Norway Proposes Ban on Smart Glasses in Public Spaces

The Norwegian government is taking a proactive stance on privacy by proposing a temporary ban on smart glasses in public and educational settings. The legislation is a response to growing concerns that wearable cameras and AI-integrated eyewear could lead to unauthorized surveillance of citizens.
If passed, the ban would restrict the use of devices capable of recording video or audio in areas where individuals have a reasonable expectation of privacy. This includes schools, beaches, and public parks, where the presence of constant recording could disrupt social norms.
Tech advocates have criticized the proposal, arguing that it could stifle innovation and hinder the adoption of useful wearable technology. However, regulators maintain that the protection of personal data and the right to be left alone must take precedence over the convenience of new gadgets.
